Climate Policy for a Sustainable Future

 

​​​​​​​As an independent candidate for Menzies, I support strong, urgent climate action aligned with the Paris Agreement. We must cut emissions, shift to clean energy, and build a climate-resilient, fairer future for all Australians.

My Commitments:

1. Strong Climate Targets

  • Back science-based (SBTi) emissions cuts which means a minimum of 42% reduction by 2030, and net-zero before 2050
  • Legally binding carbon budgets to stay on track

2. 100% Renewable Energy

  • 80% clean electricity by 2030, 100% soon after
  • No new fossil fuel projects; phase out coal by 2040 with support for affected workers
  • Invest in Aussie-led clean tech and local energy projects

3. Green Jobs & Fair Transition

  • Create jobs in renewables, clean tech, and restoration
  • Support re-skilling and partner with unions for a fair transition

4. Carbon Pricing & Accountability

  • Introduce carbon pricing to drive clean investment
  • Back fair, global carbon markets
  • Crack down on greenwashing

5. Climate Adaptation

  • Boost investment in disaster resilience, early warning systems, and eco-protection
  • Develop national and local adaptation plans

6. Sustainable Transport

  • Expand public and active transport options
  • End petrol/diesel car sales by 2030
  • Grow EV charging networks and green urban development

7. Protecting Nature

  • Protect and restore forests, wetlands, coasts, and biodiversity
  • Support regenerative agriculture and sustainable land use
  • End native forest logging in all states and support transitioning to alternative industries such as plantation forestry and value-added products manufacturing, in accordance with Australian/New Zealand Standard for Sustainable Forest Management (AS/NZS 4708).

8. Global Cooperation

  • Take climate leadership on the world stage
  • Support Pacific and developing nations with climate finance and tech
  • Ensure transparency and strong reporting
